The diamond

The diamond

The very word “Diamond” means “INVINCIBLE” etymologically. Referring to the hardness and the magnificence of this gem, it is also named “Adamas” (untameable).

The diamond has always been the representation of well-being, wealth and power. The more significant elements of life are often marked by the offering of a diamond : birth, engagement, marriage and birthdays.

The shape of its crystals (octahedral) has managed to inspire creators, especially architects. In fact, the very famous Maison des Diamants (House of Diamonds) in Marseille, France, also known as Maison Diamantée, owes its name to its façade, decorated with stones cut in the shape of diamond heads

The criteria upon which the grading of the quality of a diamond is founded upon are symbolized by the 4 Cs : Colour, Clarity, Carat and Cut.
